Emmanuel College is a private liberal arts college founded in 1919 with a student population of approximately 2,500.

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the college lost their payroll specialist.

Urgency and unknowns surrounding class continuance, enrollments, workplace safety and a desire to limit spending dictated the college evaluate nontraditional payroll alternatives.

Emmanuel College needed a partner who could:

Their first inclination was to contract ADP, but since the college only wanted to outsource one of several payrolls they process, they were a knock-out for ADP’s Comprehensive Payroll solution. It was at that time, that ADP referred the college to Ignite HCM.

Interim payroll processing is a service we provide to companies that experience planned or unexpected employee vacancies due to turnover, medical emergency, talent scarcity or budget constraints.

Frequently, we must assume payroll responsibility sight unseen. In this circumstance, we had the luxury of working with Emmanuel’s payroll associate for one processing prior her departure. This allowed us to get an overview of their payroll process and meet the department managers whom we would be supporting.

Next, we submitted a Client Contact Authorization Form to ADP client services allowing us to work directly with ADP on behalf of the college. As we began to familiarize ourselves with the schools' processes and needs, we were able to suggest and implement improvements to streamline and further automate their ADP workflow.

Emmanuel College now relies on Ignite HCM to provide ongoing payroll processing services for the student payroll and we also serve as backup resource for the college's broader payroll needs. There has been occasion where we have been called in on short notice to process payroll for the entire college -- we were able to execute flawlessly and get everyone paid on time.
